The Stratigraphy and Fossils of Ordovician rocks near Nashville, Tennessee

Upper Ordovician rocks are well-exposed on the Nashville Dome in central Tennessee, particulary because of the numerous roadcuts that have been excavated in recent years. These exposures yield an abundance of well-preserved marine fossils that have received very little study, even though their abundance and preservation typically equals that of the Upper Ordovician rocks near Cincinnnati, Ohio.

The purpose of this website is to document the genera and species that have been described from the Upper Ordovician rocks of the Nashville Dome. In addition, this site also describes the basic lithostratigraphic and sequence stratigraphic framework of the Upper Ordovician of the Nashville Dome.
